Job summary

LAC-Federal is looking for a Metadata Librarian to support archive management activities at a major Federal library in Silver Spring, MD. This role involves ensuring proper cataloging and management of various archival materials.

The ideal candidate will possess an MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution and have strong experience with database management and metadata standards.

This is a full-time position with benefits and requires physical activity such as lifting and managing archival materials.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work in various databases unique to the agency.
• Experience in library technical services and best practices.
• Ability to lift boxes of media exceeding 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Support cataloging, evaluation, and consolidation of archival holdings.
• Review and inventory records for transfer to retention centers.
• Create/update standards-compliant catalog metadata.
