Job summary

SSOE is seeking an Architectural Design Intern for Summer 2027 in Des Moines, IA. This onsite role requires daily attendance at our Des Moines office, with no remote or hybrid option.

You will assist in designing state-of-the-art buildings for leading companies and participate in a robust internship program that supports licensure, scholarships, and potential full-time opportunities. The role emphasizes exposure to project design, cost estimation support, and production of construction documents

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's in a NAAB-accredited architecture program.
• Revit experience required.
• 3D rendering skills (Enscape, V-Ray, SketchUp, 3ds Max, etc.).
• Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• Eager to learn and passionate about design.
• Demonstrated leadership in school or community.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphic skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine project design assignments, with growing responsibility, guided by a project engineer/architect or department manager.
• Works from both own designs and designs of others, compiles data, performs design computations, makes quantity take-offs, and assists in preparation of cost estimates.
• Drafts interpretation of own design into completed working drawings and applies design fundamentals.
• Develops project details, prepares selections, and adapts to alternatives.
• Maintains working knowledge of the discipline's codes and studies non-routine code issues.
• Performs production of construction documents.

This is an onsite role requiring daily attendance at our Des Moines, IA office. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this role.
