Job summary

Gray AES is seeking an Architecture Design Manager who speaks Japanese to join our team remotely or at our Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX, Lexington, KY or Fullerton, CA offices.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree or have seven years of related experience, with solid proficiency in Revit and strong communication skills. Travel and overtime may be required in this fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or technical college; or seven years related experience and/or training.
  • Must possess basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and Revit applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Review design proposal criteria and facilitate preparation of proposal documents for use by construction personnel, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Provide research regarding the project design, along with applicable code and regulatory requirements.
  • Consult with customer to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, and equipment.
  • Prepare the layout of project and integrate engineering elements into unified design for customer review and approval.
  • Responsible for QA/QC of design documents for all design disciplines including review of documents by technicians, sub-consultants and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and administer design contracts with customer and/or sub-consultants.
  • Facilitate design reviews and presentation of current design documents for customer review and approval.
  • Coordinate design activities with customers and Gray AES sub-consultants.
  • Facilitate preparation of schematic, design development, and construction documents and manage construction administration activities.
  • Develop a design schedule and estimate of AE/C costs for projects.
  • Monitor project design activities to ensure compliance with Gray AES standards and procedures.
  • Manage all administrative tasks related to design for the project.
  • Manage all costs related to design activities to ensure cost control.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.

Frequently in a normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. May be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives and vibrations. Noise level on the job site is normally moderate to loud. Overtime will be required. Some travel will be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise 1 to 3 team members such as Architectural Technicians and Assistant Design Managers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work; provides

input for appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
