Location

BŌK Modern, a cutting-edge architectural metal systems company located in downtown San Rafael, CA. A wholly owned subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc.

Role: Estimator

BŌK Modern is seeking an Estimator with construction, metal systems experience to help us with project inquiries, estimating, and pre-construction. You will be working with architects, general contractors, and installers to answer construction technical questions regarding our product systems.

What you’ll be doing

• Prepares estimates for assigned projects.
• Understands and uses Excel worksheets to quote projects.
• Generates Requests for Information (RFI) where appropriate.
• Works collaboratively with the Sales Team as required for projects.
• Works with AS Project Managers to develop a plan to win project.
• After award, reviews drawings with Project Manager and highlights areas of concern.
• Prepares qualified technical projects to hand off to the Estimating Department.
• Understands full product lines with an emphasis on modified standard and custom products.
• Provides assistance to architects, designers and end-users for design budgets and technical information to secure interest in our products.
• Follow-up on sales leads with great tracking methods and responsiveness.
• Partner with sales team and customer to provide creative value-engineered solutions to meet customer budget requirements.
• Ensures the correct solutions are utilized, manages bid strategy, and ensures delivery of complex solutions in a cost effective, profitable manner.
• Understands manufacturing process changes and improves estimating pricing models to ensure profitability of complex projects.

What will make you successful

• Must be able to review complex architecture drawings in AutoCAD, technical documents and create an initial draft with measurements and other specifications to submit for a project estimate.
• Well-developed computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office; extensive knowledge of MS Excel required.
• Knowledge of sheet metal or manufacturing process is preferred.
• Must be able to work directly with architects, contractors and sub-contractors to quickly find technical solutions.
• Must have excellent project management skills including scheduling, budgeting and coordinating with multiple vendors.
• Must be able to work with clients to develop and create construction detailing (i.e., mounting details) and assembly drawings.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and super organized.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Sales Force, Bluebeam and PlanSwift.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience estimating in construction, metals or fabrication.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Architecture, Construction Management preferred.
