Job summary

Architectural Project Manager – Education (K-12/DSA)

We are currently seeking a high caliber Architectural Project Manager for a long-term basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in Pleasanton, CA.

Our client is looking for someone with a strong background in K-12 educational facilities, DSA project delivery, and client management. The successful candidate will lead project teams, manage consultant coordination, maintain client relationships, and oversee the delivery of complex educational projects throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.

Responsibilities
  • Manage K-12 education projects from planning and design through construction administration
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, school districts, consultants, and regulatory agencies
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and work plans
  • Monitor project performance and ensure successful delivery of project objectives
  • Lead project meetings and coordinate communication among all stakeholders
  • Direct and mentor architectural staff, designers, and technical team members
  • Delegate responsibilities and provide guidance to project team members
  • Fost a collaborative and accountable project environment
  • Support staff development and encourage professional growth
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school districts, public agencies, and repeat clients
  • Lead consultant coordination efforts, including structural, civil, MEP, landscape, and specialty consultants
  • Participate in presentations, workshops, and stakeholder meetings
  • Support business development efforts and help identify future project opportunities
  • Oversee project documentation and quality control processes
  • Utilize Revit to review project models, coordinate design efforts, and direct project teams
  • Ensure compliance with DSA requirements, California Building Code, accessibility regulations, and educational facility standards
  • Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, and site observations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 8 years of architectural experience
  • Minimum of 5 years managing K-12 educational projects
  • Demonstrated experience delivering DSA projects
  • Strong knowledge of California educational facility requirements and public-sector project delivery
  • Experience managing project teams, consultants, budgets, and schedules
  • Proficiency in Revit and BIM project coordination
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
  • California Architectural License preferred
  • Experience with Civic, Municipal, Public Works, or other public-sector projects
  • Experience participating in project pursuits, interviews, and proposal development
  • Knowledge of Division of the State Architect (DSA) processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with Bay Area school district and public agencies
  • Active involvement in AIA, CASH, CEFPI/A4LE, or similar industry organizations
