Job summary

Facility Programming and Consulting seeks an architectural programmer to assist in creating facility programs of requirements, space analyses, and master plan programming. The role emphasizes document production, independent thinking, and collaborative interaction with clients.

Job description

Facility Programming and Consulting is seeking an architectural programmer to assist in the creation of facility programs of requirements, space analyses, and master plan programming. Document production, independent thinking, and collaborative interaction are critically important elements of this position. Attention to detail and diligent follow-up on client requests is mandatory.

Candidate will be asked to work as part of a team to perform complex analysis and problem-solving tasks on projects such as workplace observation surveys, functional relationship analysis, highest and best use studies, supply and demand, utilization analysis, stacking & blocking, project schedules, organizational analysis, personnel forecast, space type analysis, density analysis, space inventory, and facility benchmarks.

Previous experience independently performing similar tasks is highly desirable, however, this position will offer opportunities for training and professional development.

Required Skills
  • Knowledge and ability to use analytical and problem-solving techniques, including an extreme attention to detail.
  • Strong relationship building skills, communication skills, ability to clearly communicate message to internal and external clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include a high level of knowledge in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD as well as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, illustrator, and Photoshop.)
  • Ability to complete tasks and produce deliverables independently.
  • Ability to give precise engaging presentations is desired but not required.
Required Experience
  • 3 to 10 years of previous experience with proven record of successful projects. Basic knowledge of design and building construction experience is a plus; we specialize in pre-project planning.
Job Location

San Antonio or Houston, Texas. Some business travel required.

  • Unlike traditional design firms, our projects tend to last 3 to 6 months and will expose the candidate to a variety of building, campus, and client types, such as corporate, municipal, and higher education.
  • Applicant should be aware that a large amount of time in this position will be spent in producing, writing, and editing reports and/or documents. Skill and experience in technical writing and graphic development is a plus.
  • While this position requires a working knowledge of the field of architecture and building assembly/construction, this position is not design-related and is purely a pre-project planning position.
