Job summary

NVR, Inc. is seeking an Architectural Specialist - Permit Support to join its Architecture Services Team in Frederick, MD.

You will serve as a subject matter expert to ensure projects comply with building codes, regulations, and safety standards while assisting homebuilding partners with permit questions. Collaborate with internal teams and external officials, review plans, and help identify design changes to maintain code compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in construction, architecture, engineering or design preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of managing permit submissions.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and constructing documents.
• Familiar with ICC codes including residential, commercial, accessibility and energy codes.
• Proven attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Bluebeam is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Homebuilding personnel and code officials to resolve permit issues.
• Coordinate with Homebuilding and Warranty teams to identify design changes.
• Facilitate training on code compliance within the building process.
• Review, schedule, complete, and assign permits to team members.
• Apply knowledge of building codes and construction to ensure quality standards.
• Conduct regular cross-department meetings to discuss projects and updates.
• Consult with engineers, architects, estimators, and code officials to ensure complete documentation.
