Armstrong World Industries is seeking a Sr Research Scientist (Metallurgy) in Lancaster, PA to lead materials innovation for architectural metal systems. You will integrate metallurgy, surface engineering, coatings science, and manufacturing processes to drive durable product solutions.

As the metallurgy subject matter expert, you will influence product performance, guide development from concept to commercialization, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement to

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication, finishing, or building materials R&D.
• Strong understanding of physical metallurgy, deformation mechanics, and metal forming processes.
• Knowledge of surface engineering, coatings, corrosion science and durability.
• Experience with material characterization and analytical testing methodologies.

Responsabilidades

• Lead research and development of metal ceiling and wall systems using aluminum, steel, and specialty alloys.
• Apply metallurgy principles to improve structural integrity and product durability.
• Develop integrated material systems by evaluating alloy chemistry, fabrication, and surface treatments.
• Support optimization of manufacturing processes and guide technology transfer to AWI facilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality.
