Base pay range

$60,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

An Architectural Job Captain with 3 to 6 years of experience on the path to licensure is an emerging professional working within a project team and under the supervision of the Project Architect. The job captain performs specific / limited portions of assignments working under general supervision, works from the design of others and performs routine architectural assignments.

Qualities:

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in BIM and other relevant software tools for documenting the project is also essential.
  • Attention to Detail: Job Captains should be detail-oriented and have a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Organization and Time Management: Job Captains should be skilled in managing their time effectively and organizing their work. They should be able to prioritize tasks to meet assignment deadlines.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Job Captains work closely with project architects, designers, and other team members. They should possess excellent collaboration and teamwork skills, actively participating in project discussions, providing support to team members, and contributing to the overall success of the project.
  • Problem-Solving: Job Captains participate in how problems arising during the process are identified and solved. They support and collaborate with team members to address design and technical problems effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication is essential for Job Captains to convey ideas and information accurately. They should be able to communicate with team members regularly to assure that assignments are complete and thorough.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Development: Job Captains are responsible for producing design development and construction drawings based on the design intent provided by the project architect or designer. They create accurate and detailed drawings that comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordination and Documentation: Job Captains assist in coordinating drawings and documentation within the project team. They work closely with other team members to integrate various design elements and disciplines.
  • Building Code Compliance: Job Captains should be learning the basic understanding of building codes and regulations and how they apply to the project.
  • Construction Administration Support: Job Captains may be involved in construction administration tasks. They respond to requests for information (RFIs), review and process submittals, and work with the project architect in resolving design-related issues during construction.
  • Continued Learning and Professional Development: Job Captains actively seek opportunities for professional growth and development. They stay updated with industry trends, attend relevant seminars or workshops, and may pursue additional certifications or qualifications to enhance their skills and knowledge.
