Job summary

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Architectural Designer / Draftsperson role based in Valdese, NC. The individual in this role will develop residential design concepts, prepare detailed architectural drawings, and produce construction documents that align with project specifications and building codes. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with clients to understand their vision, translating ideas into functional floor plans and elevations, and coordinating with project managers and trades to ensure constructability. The role involves revising plans based on client feedback, site conditions, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining design integrity and accuracy. The Architectural Designer / Draftsperson will also assist with material selections, documentation for permits, and quality checks on plans to support seamless project execution.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong architectural design and residential drafting skills, including experience creating floor plans, elevations, and construction documents.
• Candidates should possess proficiency with CAD and/or architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools) and basic computer literacy for document management.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes, permitting processes, and practical detailing for buildable designs.
• Candidates should possess skills in client communication, active listening, and collaboration with contractors and team members to deliver personalized design solutions.
• Candidates should possess attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in architecture, drafting, design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
