Overview
We are looking for a talented Architectural Designer with strong grounding in foodservice environments, customer experience (CX), and operational flow to join our design team. In this role, you will translate brand, operational, and customer experience direction into clear, buildable spatial solutions, developing BOH and FOH floorplans, and high‑quality 3D renderings. You’ll work closely with strategy, culinary, and operations teams, incorporating inputs and guidance into cohesive design outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Concept Development
- Translate established brand direction, mood boards, and strategic briefs into cohesive concepts grounded in CX design principles
- Interpret inputs from brand, culinary, operations, and project teams to inform BOH and FOH planning and layout decisions
- Support the development of guest and operator flows – including entry, ordering, seating, circulation, and support spaces – ensuring alignment with operational requirements and performance goals
- Prepare clear, well‑structured design presentations that communicate layout logic, spatial intent, and design decisions to internal teams and clients
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure design aligns with project objectives
- Design & Technical Execution
- Produce BOH and FOH floorplans and schedules using AutoCAD
- Build accurate 3D models and high‑quality interior and exterior renderings using SketchUp
- Translate approved design directions into coordinated layouts, elevations, and visual documentation
- Develop FF&E schedules, finish intent, and supporting specifications in coordination with and following direction from senior team members
- Support design documentation through schematic and design development phases, maintaining consistency and clarity of design intent
- Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure design intent is maintained through refinements and implementation
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, interior design, or a closely related field – required
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in restaurant, hospitality, or food & beverage design – required
- Demonstrated portfolio of restaurant or hospitality projects spanning concept through completion – required
- Experience working directly with clients in a consultancy or in-house environment – a plus
- Technical Skills
- SketchUp – proficient; able to build detailed 3D models and walk-through presentations
- AutoCAD – proficient; able to produce precise BOH and FOH floor plans, elevations and schedules
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) – proficient; able to create presentation and visual storytelling
- Revit or other BIM platforms – a plus
- Core Competencies
- Ability to work effectively within established design direction, translating inputs into accurate, well‑resolved layouts and visual documentation
- Solid understanding of restaurant and foodservice operations, including how design decisions support or inhibit service efficiency, throughput, and labor models
- High attention to detail paired with the ability to understand how design decisions impact broader brand, operational, and spatial strategies
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
- Collaborative working style, comfortable taking direction, incorporating feedback, and coordinating with cross‑functional teams and external partners
- Demonstrated ability to work remotely, travel to client sites as necessary (20% of time)
