Job summary

SUMMIT DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SERVICES, INC. in Raleigh, NC seeks an Architectural Designer to contribute from concept through construction on diverse projects. You will join a growing team, develop drawings, and coordinate with consultants to shape built environments.

You will create RevIt-based designs, perform site visits, assist with construction administration, and mentor interns in a collaborative design-focused office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher degree in Architecture with professional credentialing in progress or licensure.
• Experience in architectural design across multiple project phases is required.
• Proficiency in Revit and BIM coordination across disciplines is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support all design phases from concept to construction documents and construction administration.
• Create drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and 3D models using Revit and other software.
• Coordinate documentation with structural, civil, landscape, MEP, and other consultants.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and deliverable coordination.
• Conduct code, zoning, accessibility, and life-safety research for documentation.

We're looking for a creative and driven Architectural Designer to work in our Raleigh, NC office and be part of a growing team working on impactful projects. As an Architectural Designer at Summit, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping the built environment. You’ll contribute to projects from concept through construction, and gain exposure to a wide range of design phases and building types.If you're passionate about design excellence, thrive in fast-paced environments, and enjoy collaborating with a cross-functional team, this opportunity is for you.Responsibilities:Support all phases of design including conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration.Create design drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and 3D models using Revit and other software.Coordinate project documentation with structural, civil, landscape architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty consultants.Assist Project Architects and Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, and deliverable coordination.Conduct building code, zoning, accessibility, and life-safety research and incorporate requirements into project documentation.Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors in virtual, in-person, and on-site meetings.Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews throughout design and documentation phases.Perform site visits, field verification, and existing conditions documentation.Assist with construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, change order evaluations, punch lists, and site observation reports.Create presentation graphics, renderings, diagrams, and materials for client presentations and project pursuits.Mentor interns and entry-level designers and contribute to a collaborative team environment.Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, materials, building systems, and industry best practices.Qualifications:An accredited degree in Architecture (Master’s degree a plus)2–5 years of professional experience; actively pursuing licensureProficiency in Revit required, including BIM coordination and construction documentationUnderstanding of design, detailing, materials, and construction methodsFamiliar with building codes and coordination across disciplines (civil, MEP, structural).Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary consultant teams.Experience preparing comprehensive construction documents and technical detailing.Familiarity with construction administration processes, including RFIs, submittals, field observations, and punch lists.Strong problem-solving skills and technical creativityExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Collaborative mindset and ability to work independently.Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
