Job summary

The Austin Company is seeking an entry-level Architect in the United States, Mayfield, Ohio area. The role involves performing routine architectural design under supervision, producing designs that meet contract drawings and applicable codes.

You will work with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, with rendering software as a plus; travel up to 10% is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS/BA degree in Architecture and typically 0 -1 years related experience.
• Architectural AXP preferred.
• Experience with rendering software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Accumulates specific information to expand the outline specification and further define the scope of work.
• Prepares basic working drawings and performs calculations for selected portions of a project.
• Assists in preparation of technical specifications. Gathers and records information to be used for determining and selecting the proper materials and for writing specifications.
• Makes recommendations to the Manager of Architecture on the type of materials to be used to satisfy the scope of the project.
• Evaluates vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with the specifications and requirements of the project and reviews results with the Project Lead, the Design Project Manager, or the Manager of Architecture.
• Reviews design drawings of other employees or offices for accuracy within defined limits.
• Work with other disciplines to ensure there are no conflicts or interferences between disciplines.
• Must ensure that all design work is in accordance with the preliminary scope definition and complies with all applicable building codes.

Performs routine aspects of architecture requiring knowledge and application of basic architectural principles under close supervision; work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy. Under general supervision, perform assignments of limited scope to produce designs that satisfy the requirements of building designs in accordance with applicable governing codes. This requires the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria where the scope is already outlined in the form of contract drawings, specifications, one-line drawings and component estimates derived during Austin’s Step 1 process.

Preferred Education And Experience

• Experience and working knowledge of current Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft office is strongly preferred.

• Experience with rendering software is a plus.

Travel Required

Yes, up to 10% by both air and ground travel as most projects are not local.
