Job description

Ezra Lee Design+Build is a full-service architecture, interior design, and construction firm that creates distinctive, high-performance spaces where creativity, craftsmanship, and functionality meet. We design lifestyles, legacies, and opportunities for inspiration.

Our clients are visionary achievers who expect beauty and performance in equal measure. They trust us to lead with clarity, creativity, and purpose.

The Opportunity

We're seeking an Architectural Designer to carry projects from first concept to final walkthrough. This role sits at the center of our design process — equal parts creative talent and technical command — for someone with the invention to imagine what a space could become, the tenacity to carry it through every phase, and the discernment to know which decisions matter most.

This person works across every phase of design, from schematic design through construction, and collaborates closely with firm leadership, consultants, and our in-house construction team.

The ideal candidate brings a designer's invention, a builder's tenacity, and a leader's discernment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, technical direction, and documentation of projects through all phases including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Bring original, inventive thinking to every project, exploring ideas boldly before refining them into a clear, resolved direction.
  • Translate schematic designs into clear, compelling presentations and client communications that bring the vision to life.
  • Develop well-coordinated Revit models and construction documents that carry design intent all the way to the field.
  • Oversee quality and consistency from concept through construction, ensuring design intent, code compliance, and technical excellence.
  • Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, and the construction team to align project vision, execution, schedules, and budgets.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project consultants, driving coordination, tracking responses, and resolving conflicts before they reach the field.
  • Follow through relentlessly with consultants and the construction team until every open question, conflict, and detail is resolved.
  • Represent the firm in client presentations and professional engagements, building strong, lasting relationships.
  • Partner with our construction team to translate creative ideas into practical, buildable solutions.
  • Own assigned projects end to end, managing your own schedule, priorities, and deliverables with minimal oversight.
  • Exercise sound judgment when weighing design options, consultant input, code requirements, and budget, knowing when to push an idea and when to refine it.
  • Mentor and guide project teams, supporting both design excellence and technical rigor.
  • Foster collaboration within the studio between architectural designers and interior designers.
  • Contribute to studio standards, technical initiatives, and best practices.
What Success Looks Like
  • Your designs feel inventive and specific to each client and site.
  • Your projects move forward reliably and on schedule, without needing to be chased.
  • Clients leave presentations with clarity and confidence, and they understand the design and are excited about where it's going.
  • Consultants are coordinated, drawings are clean, and the construction team builds from your documents with few surprises.
  • Problems get solved, not passed along, and the calls you make hold up from design through construction.
  • Firm leadership trusts you to take a project from design development and run with it, and knows it will be done well.
  • Each project elevates the firm's legacy of design excellence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture (required).
  • 4-7 years of professional architectural experience, ideally on custom, high-end residential projects. Experience in multi-family residential or hospitality projects is accepted or a plus.
  • Licensed architect, or actively on the path to licensure.
  • Proficiency in Revit (required); proficiency in visualization tools and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Experience working through all phases of design, from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, exterior finishes, building codes, construction documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates original, inventive design work alongside resolved technical detailing.
  • Proven ability to lead project components and mentor team members.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Who You Are
  • You are inventive. You see possibilities others miss and bring fresh, original thinking to every project and you're never satisfied with the expected answer.
  • You are tenacious. You follow through on every commitment, no matter how small, and stay with a project from first concept to final punch list until it's actually done.
  • You are discerning. You know what matters most in a design, detail, or decision, and you make thoughtful calls with confidence.
  • You take ownership without waiting to be asked. You manage your own time, set your own priorities, and deliver.
  • You communicate with clarity. You are equally comfortable presenting to a client, coordinating details with engineers, or walking a site with the build team.
  • You stay curious, always seeking better ways to design and deliver.
Why Join Us
  • You'll work on distinctive, high-end projects with real ownership from concept through construction.
  • You'll work alongside a team of passionate designers, architects, builders, and creators.
  • We move fast, think deeply, and expect excellence. We also celebrate creativity, growth, and human connection.
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) match.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
