Job summary

SmithGroup, Inc. in San Francisco, CA, seeks a licensed Architect to lead design and documentation for healthcare projects. You’ll develop space plans, prepare drawings from concept through construction documents, and coordinate with consultants under supervision of a senior licensed Architect.

Job description

Architects (Licensed), SmithGroup, Inc., subsidiary of SmithGroup Co., Inc., 301 Battery Street, 4th Floor, San Francisco, CA:

The Architect (licensed) prepares architectural drawings, renderings and design assignments under general supervision of a senior licensed Architect. He or she independently provides solutions for assignment objectives. Job duties performed under general supervision include: Performs architectural assignments under general supervision. Coordinates Architectural drawings with drawings of other disciplines. Apply relevant health facility planning regulations under the direction of a senior planner. Creates and develops planning and design concepts or supports lead designers. Attend user group meetings and assist with preparation and provide support during user group meetings. Relates building design concepts to building codes, zoning ordinances and other external issues. Consults with manufacturers, researches and proposes materials and products. Works with equipment planners and vendors to document spatial and requirements. Coordinates with consultants. Participates in construction administration including responding to RFI's, preparing sketches and addendums (CCD's), visiting the construction site to gather information, prepare punch lists, and answer contractor questions as owner's representative. Develops planning and design concepts or support lead designers. Assists with assessment of design requirements. Details internal and external/exterior features of a building. Has knowledge of basic drawing details and research more complex details. Prepares and presents drawings both internally and externally. Participates in programming and supports planning efforts to develop architectural design concepts. Regularly works with design software (CAD, Revit, Sketchup, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office suite, graphic programs: Illustrator, Enscape, Bluebeam. Develops and maintains trusted relationships with clients. Telecommuting may be permitted up to 2 days per week.

Minimum requirements: A bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in architecture, or a closely related architecture or design field of study and five(5) years of experience in any related occupation working on architectural assignments, including at least three(3) years of experience in development of space and functional program, working on schematic design through construction documents of healthcare projects. A valid Architectural License from any US jurisdiction is also required. Basic annual pay range is one hundred thirty-nine thousand, four hundred dollars to one hundred forty thousand dollars for full-time employment and standard company benefits.
