Overview

ARCHITECT-PASSIONATE, CREATIVE SENIOR DESIGN PROFESSIONAL

iBUILT is transforming the way the world builds by integrating technology, standardized design and industrialized off‑site manufacturing to deliver better quality buildings, more safely, quickly, and efficiently.

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate, highly creative candidate with a deep understanding of the differences between design for construction and design for manufacturing and assembly. Experience with volumetric steel modular buildings is beneficial.

The successful candidate must be a licensed architect with at least 10 years of practical experience designing large non‑combustible buildings and must be a subject‑matter expert in BIM, OmniClass, Revit, Dynamo, and Rhino.

The successful candidate will interact with and coordinate the design of our buildings with clients, as well as our internal business development, manufacturing, engineering, and procurement teams.

This position requires frequent presentations to developer clients and acting as the primary design liaison, while overseeing design project management functions of our team.

Required Experience
  • At least 10 years of experience practicing as a licensed architect; knowledge of modular construction a plus.
  • Architectural registration required, licensed.
  • Strong design abilities focused on space planning and creating efficient structures.
  • Ability to make decisions on materiality and detailing.
  • Thorough knowledge of multi‑family residential and commercial technical and code issues and the ability to analyze code requirements.
  • Proficiency with BIM software: utilizing 3D surface modelling platforms such as McNeel Rhino 6+ Grasshopper (preferred).
  • Experience participating in a BIM Execution Planning process and adhering to defined standards for model exchange, design authoring, drawing production, and design review within a common data environment (BIM 360 Design preferred); capable of conducting BIM‑based coordination, issue tracking, and quality assurance using a model checking platform (Autodesk Navisworks, Solibri Model Checker, and/or BIM 360 Coordinate preferred).
  • Experience successfully producing BIM that is compliant with data requirements and Level of Development (LOD) expectations for a project.
  • Demonstrated abilities to creatively design, lead, and coordinate with teams from Architecture, Engineering, and Building Manufacturing departments to set architectural design standards and oversee the conceptualization and design development phases of our unique developer‑centric, design‑build volumetric steel building process.
  • Ability to both lead and delegate by giving clear instructions, mentoring as required, and following up to gauge team members’ progress.
  • Ability to be schedule‑driven while maintaining focus on the overall design objective.
  • Clear understanding of design, constructability issues, and the ability to communicate such issues to the architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and site construction teams.
  • Knowledgeable with various high‑rise construction systems.
  • Comfortable with project management software and task tracking systems used to communicate with all other team members.
  • Detail‑oriented and strong documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – motivating, influencing the team to meet or exceed goals in a positive manner.
