Job summary

CRB is seeking a Senior Architect to lead design, documentation and construction administration across complex projects in the life sciences and food & beverage sectors. You will coordinate with internal teams and clients, ensuring code compliance and high-quality deliverables.

The role emphasizes architectural leadership, mentoring staff, and delivering construction documents while applying IBC, OSHA standards and regulatory requirements. Travel may be involved as needed.

Qualifications

• Accredited professional degree in architecture and licensure.
• Extensive knowledge of International Building Codes, OSHA regulations, and ADA standards.
• History of cross-discipline project coordination and execution.
• Ability to develop complete Construction Documents and Specifications for complex projects.
• 15 years of professional architectural experience.

Responsibilities

• Work independently across all design phases: programming, planning, concept development, detailed design, and construction administration.
• Generate detailed drawings, life-safety plans, egress studies, layouts, sections, elevations, details, schedules, and specs for complex projects.
• Develop studies, presentations and reports for stakeholders and clients.
• Research and apply IBC and other regulatory requirements during project delivery.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Construction teams to ensure coordinated, constructible designs.
• Participate in drawing reviews, coordination meetings, and quality checks.
• Assist PM with resource planning, budget/scope definition, and schedule adherence.
• Conduct quality checks of documents and verification of design calculations.
• Mentor architectural staff and act as Architect of Record on assignments.

The Senior Architectcandidate can successfully execute specific scope areas across applicable phases of a project, including design, documentation and construction administration as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This position encourages creativity in problem solving to promote technical and design excellence while ensuring building code and regulatory compliance. The Senior Architect has the ability to coordinate with internal and external parties, manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others. The candidate will serve as the Architectural point of contact for clients, other disciplines, estimating and construction personnel.

The Senior Architect candidate has the ability to develop CRB's Architectural presence in advanced technology markets and is differentiated by a focused area of industry related expertise or interest. The candidate has distinguished themselves through industry presentations and involvement, thought leadership and a deep understanding of industry specific regulations, design standard and trends.

Core Responsibilities

• Work independently on projects with ability to execute all phases of design, including programming, planning, concept development, detailed design and construction administration.
• Generate complex code analyses, life safety and egress plans, floor plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules and specifications for large projects of advanced complexity with no oversight.
• Develop and generate studies, presentations and reports, and present to internal or external audiences.
• Research and apply International Building Code and other regulatory requirements as part of project delivery process.
• Work closely with Engineering and Construction personnel to develop and ensure coordinated and constructible designs.
• Participate and contribute during drawing reviews, coordination meetings and quality checks.
• Assist PM in resource planning, budget and scope definition, schedule adherence and overall quality of deliverables.
• Conduct quality checking of documents for complex projects (e.g.technical verification of design calculations, documentation, design approaches)and drive overall project quality.
• Identify and resolve complex code, construction or design related challenges
• Develop advanced Architectural design and/or technical training presentations.
• Provide mentorship to Architectural staff.
• Act as Architect of Record for project assignments, may include corporate licensure responsibilities.

Must Have Qualifications

• Accredited Professional Degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch, and/or D.Arch) or Canadian / International equivalent
• Architectural license in good standing within home state, with ability for reciprocal licensure through NCARB
• Extensive knowledge and application of International Building Codes, OSHA Regulations and ADA Standards
• History of successful, cross-discipline project coordination and execution on a variety of project types
• Ability to develop (or guide development of) complete set of Construction Documents and Specifications for complex projects.
• Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office suite
• Relevant AEC (Architectural, Engineering or Construction) firm experience
• 15years of professional experience

• Entrepreneurial, client focused leadership skills, preferably within the Life Sciences or Food & Beverage industries
• Flexibility for moderate travel in support of project-based or training activities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to mentor Architectural staff
• LEED Accreditation, WELL Certification or similar sustainability credentials
• Expertise in one or more of CRB's core markets, including R&D labs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food & nutrition and/or consumer products and international clients/projects.
