Job summary

Goodwyn Mills Cawood in Pensacola seeks an experienced Architect III to lead technical design for complex projects from concept to construction.

You will deliver detailed construction documents, perform QA/QC reviews, and manage site administration while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with cross-office teams. This is a full-time, on-site role with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• Florida Architectural Licensure required (candidates eligible for Florida licensure will be considered).
• 8+ years of relevant architectural experience, including production and project leadership.

Responsibilities

You’ll:

• Drive technical design and execution of complex projects from initial concept through final construction.
• Deliver complex, code-compliant construction documents with a focus on technical accuracy and constructability.
• Perform cross-discipline QA/QC reviews to uphold technical standards, ensure conformity, and mitigate project risk.
• Manage construction administration, including site visits, field measurements, RFIs, submittals, and permitting.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in advanced building systems, architectural processes, and technical solutions.
• Translate complex client requirements into tailored design solutions while representing the firm's core values.
• Define scopes of work and coordinate directly with department heads, contractors, and consultants on product strategies.
• Mentor junior staff and collaborate across multi-office teams to elevate firm-wide technical capabilities.
• Prepare technical reports, memos, and project milestone presentations in partnership with leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes, standards, and workflow efficiencies.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• Florida Architectural Licensure required (candidates eligible for Florida licensure will also be considered).
• 8+ years of relevant architectural experience, including proven production and project management leadership.
• Specialized project experience in the Healthcare and Education sectors.
• Thorough knowledge of building codes, industry standards, and construction methods.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit required; experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, and rendering software preferred.
• Excellent communication, time management, multi-tasking, and organizational capabilities.
• Based in (or willing to relocate to) Pensacola, FL, with a valid driver's license and the ability to travel for site visits.

Where You’ll Work

This is primarily an office-based role, with opportunities to get out into the field and stay connected to the projects and people you’re serving.

Travel:Up to 20%, including project site visits, client meetings, professional development, and other project-related activities.

Fieldwork may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, construction environments, pollutants, chemicals, insects, and other site conditions. Appropriate protective clothing and equipment will be provided and required as appropriate.

The role also includes periods of desk and computer work, as well as occasional bending, twisting, crouching, and other physical movements. Employees may occasionally need to lift up to 25 pounds.
