Job summary

Goodwyn Mills Cawood Llc is seeking a Project Manager/Architect for higher education facilities in Atlanta, GA. You’ll lead complex campus projects from concept through completion, mentor emerging architects, and build strong client and consultant relationships within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

As a project architect, you’ll guide design, ensure quality and budget alignment, coordinate with engineers, contractors, and regulators, and contribute to GMC’s higher education studio

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
• Active professional architectural license required.
• 10+ years of relevant post-graduation experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural projects through multiple phases, from conceptual design and planning through construction and completion.
• Develop and communicate design solutions that respond to client goals, project requirements, budget, schedule, and community needs.
• Coordinate architectural work with engineers, consultants, contractors, clients, and other project partners.
• Oversee technical quality, project documentation, schedules, budgets, and communication.
• Review plans, specifications, reports, estimates, and calculations to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment with project goals.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Architect, you’ll serve as a trusted technical and project leader, helping guide projects of significant scale and complexity while supporting the people around you.

You’ll:

• Lead architectural projects through multiple phases, from conceptual design and planning through construction and completion.
• Develop and communicate design solutions that respond to client goals, project requirements, budget, schedule, and the needs of the community.
• Apply your advanced architectural knowledge to complex projects and help identify creative, practical solutions.
• Coordinate architectural work with engineers, consultants, contractors, clients, and other project partners.
• Oversee technical quality, project documentation, schedules, budgets, and communication.
• Review plans, specifications, reports, estimates, and calculations to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment with project goals.
• Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert, sharing your knowledge with project teams and colleagues.

• Communicate directly with contractors, clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies throughout the life of a project.
• Identify potential project risks and work proactively with leadership and project teams to address them.
• Represent GMC with professionalism, integrity, and care in every client and community interaction.

What You’ll Need

Where You’ll Work

This is primarily an office-based role, with opportunities to get out into the field and stay connected to the projects and people you’re serving. Our office building includes a gym and a cafe for those days you need to step away from your desk to exercise or grab a bit to eat.

Travel: Up to 20%, including project site visits, client meetings, professional development, and other project-related activities.

Fieldwork may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, construction environments, pollutants, chemicals, insects, and other site conditions. Appropriate protective clothing and equipment will be provided and required as appropriate.

The role also includes periods of desk and computer work, as well as occasional bending, twisting, crouching, and other physical movements. Employees may occasionally need to lift up to 25 pounds.
