Job summary

SHIMIZU NORTH AMERICA LLC is seeking an Architect III to plan, direct, and coordinate ATL office projects during the pre-construction phase. You will manage consultants (architects and engineers), translate documents, and lead BIM/CAD design efforts using Revit and AutoCAD.

The role requires a strong background in architecture principles, building systems, and code knowledge, with 7–10 years of experience and a willingness to work closely with the BD team and marketing efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field and 7–10 years of architectural experience (CAD).
• Masters degree in Architecture or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of architecture principles, building materials and construction methods.
• Familiarity with BIM/CAD design, federal/state codes, and structural/mechanical/electrical related to building costs.
• Drafting architectural plans with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead ATL office projects during pre-construction, coordinating consultants (architects/engineers).
• Prepare and manage marketing presentation documents and update project information.
• Translate client documents and facilitate English/Japanese communications.
• Collect information for design, review outputs, and manage design schedule with procurement/construction teams.
• Direct BIM/CAD-related tasks (Revit/AutoCAD) and ensure design deliverables meet requirements.

Job description

The Architect III plans, directs, and coordinates activities of ATL office projects during the pre-construction phase as described below and create design deliverables by managing consultants (architects and engineers).

Job Responsibilities

Marketing

• Prepare the marketing presentation documents.
• Updating past project information and Atlanta office brochure.
• Provides consulting for Japanese-speaking clients for their design needs.

Design

• Collects all information required for design, translates to English, and distributes to Architects/Engineers.
• Reviews design outputs provided by Architects/Engineers.
• Manages design schedule, coordinated with Procurement/Construction team.
• Directs Revit/AutoCAD-related tasks as needed (drawing, 3D, etc.).

Pre-Construction

• Initiates bid document preparations with the BD team.
• Translates client documents (Japanese to English and/or English to Japanese) as needed

Work Experience and Education Requirements

• Knowledge of architecture and architectural principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of types of building materials and construction methods.
• Knowledge of the methods and techniques of BIM/CAD design
• Knowledge of federal and state facility and code requirements.
• Knowledge of structural, mechanical and electrical engineering relating to building costs.
• Skill in drafting architectural plans.
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field AND 7-10 years of architectural experience including use of CAD technology. Masters degree in Architecture or related field preferred.
