Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking a Registered Architect to join the State Construction Division to perform design review of construction documents and ensure compliance with state codes, building standards, and industry guidelines across diverse projects.

You will provide written technical reviews, prepare final submittals showing readiness to bid, address architectural design and details, collaborate with licensed architects and engineers, and help guide projects from

Qualifications

  • Active NC architectural license and related credentials.
  • Experience with building codes and public construction statutes.
  • Proven ability to review complex construction documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in the Design Review Section as an architect for the architectural discipline.
  • Provide written technical review and commentary on construction documents submitted by licensed architects and engineers.
  • Prepare final submittal showing compliance with review comments and readiness to bid.
  • Address architectural design and details, comply with General Statutes, NC State Building Codes, industry standards, SCOT State Construction Manual, policies and guidelines.
  • Review site layout, roads, parking, drainage, building spaces, circulation, building systems, finishes and materials.
