Job summary

S Piper Staffing LLC represents a leading architecture and planning firm hiring two architects in Royal Oak, MI. Architect II and Architect III will contribute to design, code research, coordination, and construction administration from day one.

You will work across healthcare and commercial projects, with increasing independence under a senior team, and be expected to gain proficiency in project delivery from SD through CDs while collaborating on drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited program.
• Licensed/Registered Architect in Michigan required for Architect III.
• 5–18 years of professional experience in architectural/planning firms (AEC).
• 5+ years on Healthcare and Commercial projects; multi-phase delivery (SD–CDs).
• Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam; working knowledge of codes and materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop architectural drawings and details across project phases with growing independence.
• Conduct code and zoning research (IBC, ADA/ABA, State, Local codes).
• Document and present findings to senior staff with increasing accuracy.
• Coordinate with project team and consultants on drawings, models, and design issues.

Location: Royal Oak, MI

Overview:

Our client, a leading architecture and planning firm, is seeking an Architect II and an Architect III to join their productive team as skilled, independent contributors. You will work across multiple project phases in healthcare and commercial work, take on real technical responsibilities, and be supported by a senior team that invests in your development. You will be contributing to design, code research, consultant coordination, and construction administration from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop architectural drawings and details across multiple project phases with growing independence, under periodic direction from senior staff.
• Perform code and zoning research (IBC, ADA/ABA, State, and Local Codes).
• Compile, document, and present findings to senior staff with increasing accuracy and depth.
• Coordinate with project team members and consultants on drawing production, model updates, and design issue resolution.
• Participate in design team meetings and site visits.
• Contribute substantially to technical discussions.
• Assist with specification sections and product research under senior guidance.
• Develop familiarity with CSI format and spec writing conventions.
• Support construction administration tasks, including RFI draft preparation, submittal logging, and punch list documentation.
• Provide guidance to the Architect I team members on production tasks and standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• A professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch. or M.Arch) from an accredited program is required.
• Must be a Licensed/Registered Architect in the State of Michigan for the Architect III position.
• 5–18 years of professional experience as an Architect within an Architectural and Planning firm (AEC).
• 5+ years of experience working on or managing Healthcare and Commercial Architectural projects.
• 5+ years of experience contributing to multiple project phases (SD through CDs).
• Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
• Strong working knowledge of building codes, construction materials, and project delivery methods.
• Demonstrated ability to work with increasing independence on defined project scopes.
• Must (currently) live close enough to Royal Oak, MI to work several days on-site.
