Job summary

Gresham Smith in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Architect to lead the delivery of healthcare projects and support larger teams. You will coordinate production, mentor staff, ensure QA/QC, and present designs to clients.

Requires license, 8+ years' experience, strong Revit/AutoCAD skills, and ability to collaborate across disciplines. We offer a people-first culture, growth opportunities, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5-year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited University program.
• Minimum of 8 years of job-related experience; Healthcare experience is preferred.
• Architecture License required.
• Proficiency using Revit and AutoCAD required.
• Experience using Rhino, Photoshop, Sketch-up, Lumion, Enscape, and/or other 3D rendering software is a plus.
• Ability to interact professionally and build excellent interpersonal relationships.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Strong knowledge of building systems, accessibility guidelines, codes, and QA/QC skills.
• Strong presentation, time management, and organizational skills.
• Portfolio of work samples with resume/CV in online application.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of small to medium size healthcare projects.
• Support project teams on large projects.
• Direct consultant and technical teams to ensure successful execution of project design and deliverables.
• Work with Project Executive and Project Manager to oversee production timelines and deadlines.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate deliverables, managing production staff and consultants per QA/QC standards.
• Supervise code analysis and verify zoning requirements.
• Facilitate design discussions and lead sessions with consultants.
• Develop and present client presentations.
• Conduct product research and assist in selecting materials and systems.
• Attend site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; document relevant information.
• Review submittals and support field observations and agency reviews.
• Mentor staff and promote a positive team atmosphere.
• Advocate for design excellence with sustainable practices.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

As an Architect, you will

• Review submittals, support, and/or lead field observations and agency reviews.
• Focus on the professional development of staff through mentorship.
• Promote a positive team atmosphere.
• Advocate for the firm’s principles of design excellence by integrating sustainable practices.
