Job summary

Gensler in Philadelphia is seeking a technically proficient Architect to lead its expanding Critical Facilities practice. You will design and document complex data center and laboratory spaces, coordinating with consultants and teams to deliver high‑quality projects.

The role requires a design and technical mindset, experience with construction documents, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling. Relocation is encouraged for the right candidate, with a strong benefits package offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • 5–8 years of experience in commercial architecture and design with data center focus preferred.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp; skilled with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Registered Architect (RA) in the U.S., NCARB license preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning, materials, and construction techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and documentation for Critical Facilities projects.
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants and internal teams.
  • Produce technical drawings, specifications, and construction docs.
  • Oversee construction documentation and site observations as needed.
  • Ensure design intent and quality control throughout project delivery.
  • Utilize 3D modeling to communicate concepts and options.

From command-and-control centers to hyperscale data center campuses and a range of project types in-between; Gensler’s Philadelphia office is expanding our critical facilities services and is looking for a technically proficient architect to lead this emerging practice area.

Your Role

As a Gensler Architect, you will assist in the design process, produce technical documentation, and coordinate with engineering consultant teams. Additionally, you will communicate project progress and coordination to team members to ensure successful project delivery. You’re a fit for this role if you have experience with construction documentation, construction administration, are proficient with Revit, and enjoy working with a team of architects and interior designers that bring design dreams to life. We are seeking an Architect with a design and technical mindset and a desire to learn, design and deliver Critical Facilities projects.

What You Will Do
  • Design and deliver functional and beautiful spaces within the Critical Facilities Practice Area
  • Lead project team coordination for finished plans, specifications, and material selections; ensure design intent is incorporated into the construction documentation
  • Lead Coordination of the design with the consultant teams
  • Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction
  • Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction
  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
  • Utilize 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • 5-8 years of experience within the commercial architecture and design field, with recent focus on project delivery, Data Center experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques is preferred
  • Experience in construction document preparation and field observation is preferred
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other 3D modeling software
  • Successful completion of project types such as laboratories, data centers, command centers, high-tech‑factories, and/or federal, state, and local government facility spaces
  • Registered/Licensed Architect (RA) in the U.S., NCARB
  • Commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices

Our annual base salary range has been established based on local markets.
