Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-designed services, planning, and cost estimates for facility construction and renovation projects.
• Advise state officials on the review, development and coordination of construction/renovation projects.
• Ensure compliance with applicable building and construction codes relating to life safety, egress, and means of egress for state facilities.
• Negotiate space requirements and design standards with state agencies; negotiate contracts for architectural services.
• Prepare reports, design reviews, and bidding packages for agencies lacking engineering support.
• Develop final architectural space design plans and drawings for projects; proficiency in AutoCAD required.
• Analyze space designs, evaluate alternatives, and provide cost-effective solutions; collaborate with diverse teams.
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview

This position involves performing technical administrative work involving project management, review and approval, and technical assistance in support of building operational systems in new or remodeled State buildings.

This position is being recruited in support of potential future contract awards, and qualified candidates may be considered for upcoming opportunities supporting federal government clients.

Responsibilities

• Provides pre-designed services, planning, programming, development of scopes of work and construction cost estimates for facility construction and renovation projects for all State building projects including correctional, higher education, health, office, recreational, court, and residential facilities.
• Provides recommendations and guidance to state officials including agency heads for the review, development and coordination of various types of State construction, planning and renovation projects.
• Ensures compliance with applicable building and construction codes as they relate to the life safety, height and area standards, and means of egress for the Division of Facilities Management and other State agencies.
• Negotiates space requirements and design standards with other State agency clients. Negotiates contracts for architectural services serving agencies statewide and individually.
• Prepares reports correspondence, design review of specifications, drawings, bidding packages for State agencies lacking engineering support.
• Develops and draws final architectural space design plans for new and renovation projects. Must be proficient in the use of AutoCAD software.
• Draws final architectural space design plans for new and renovation projects and architectural drawings for small building and minor capital improvement projects.
• Possesses skill in analyzing building and interior space designs, evaluating alternatives and providing cost effective solutions. Has the ability to develop good working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and capabilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Certificate of Registration as a Delaware Architect.
