Job summary

Flux Resources is seeking a Data Center Design Architect for a full-time, on-site contract role in Austin, TX. The person will lead architectural scope across complex, high-density data center projects from concept through construction and handover.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in data center or facility design, a relevant architecture degree, and strong experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM platforms. Python/Dynamo skills are a plus.

Data Center Design Architect

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), on-site contract role located in Austin, TX.

Summary

This role sits within a high-growth data center design organization focused on delivering next-generation, AI-optimized infrastructure at global scale. As a Data Center Design Architect, you will lead architectural scope across complex, high-density data center projects from concept through construction and handover. You will work at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and large-scale infrastructure delivery—translating advanced technical and operational requirements into safe, code-compliant, highly efficient facility designs. This includes coordinating with mechanical, electrical, structural, and controls teams, managing external AEC partners, and ensuring alignment with standardized global design principles while adapting to local site constraints. This is a highly technical and execution-focused architecture role where speed, precision, scalability, and operational performance are critical.

Our Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of experience in architecture, industrial facilities, or data center design within an AEC environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent discipline
• Strong expertise in building codes, fire/life safety, and mission-critical facility design
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud
• Experience managing external AEC vendors on complex, multi-phase infrastructure projects
• Ability to coordinate across engineering disciplines and drive alignment under tight timelines
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical decisions to senior stakeholders
• Familiarity with hyperscale or high-density data center environments preferred
• Working knowledge of Python and/or Dynamo for design automation is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil, Structural, or Chartered Engineering
• 3+ years as a Licensed Architect with NCARB certification
• Experience supporting multi-phased mission-critical or hyperscale projects
• Exposure to AI infrastructure facilities and GPU compute density requirements
• Experience developing automated Revit workflows and design standards

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design development for new data center builds and retrofits from concept through construction documentation and site handover
• Coordinate architectural scope with mechanical, electrical, structural, security, and controls systems
• Ensure compliance with building codes, fire/life safety standards, and operational requirements
• Conduct design reviews covering space planning, circulation, headcount modeling, and standards alignment
• Review and validate construction drawings and specifications from internal teams and external AEC vendors
• Serve as escalation point for site-specific localization challenges and code adaptation
• Manage external architecture and engineering partners across all design phases
• Use Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud to coordinate and review design documentation
• Leverage Python and Dynamo scripting to improve workflow automation and team efficiency
• Communicate technical architectural concepts clearly to leadership, construction teams, and global stakeholders

Compensation & Benefits

• The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $96.15 – $120.19 per hour, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
