McClellan | Tellone is seeking a talented and collaborative Architect to join our team. We specialize in high-end residential and equestrian projects, integrating architecture, interior, and landscape design to create cohesive, high-quality spaces. We’ve created a fun and supportive studio that fosters a creative and collaborative environment where ambition and innovation are rewarded, and work/life balance is encouraged. We offer excellent opportunities for professional growth and rigorous exposure to all aspects of practice, as well as an office culture that prioritizes a welcoming canine-friendly studio environment.

This position is full-time but may begin as part-time with the potential to transition into a full-time role if desired. Full-time employees receive a competitive compensation package, including full medical benefits and employee profit sharing (see more below).

Our office is located on the Wallingford Steps, just above the Burke‑Gilman Trail and Gasworks Park. This role allows for hybrid work, with up to two remote workdays per week. We provide the necessary hardware and software to support remote work.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Architectural and Interior team to develop comprehensive design solutions for new construction and remodel projects
  • Balance multiple active projects in all phases of the design and construction process
  • Develop and present design concepts using SketchUp and AutoCAD
  • Prepare and present design ideas to clients, incorporating feedback into refined solutions
  • Produce construction documents and details that support design solutions
  • Maintain positive client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure seamless project execution
  • Review submittals and RFIs, and conduct site visits during construction phases
  • Assist in big picture efforts related to marketing, project photoshoots, architectural graphics, etc.
Qualifications
  • 3+ Years of experience minimum – open to a range of experience types
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD – experience with Enscape is a plus
  • Strong verbal and graphic presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, builders, and vendors
  • Strong design sensibility with the ability to clearly communicate and develop design ideas
  • Familiarity with construction detailing and a capacity for thinking through how a design comes together in the field
  • Ability to travel to job sites
  • An eager‑to‑learn spirit with a good sense of humor and a low‑drama attitude goes a long way – great work comes from genuine collaboration, not competition
  • An appreciation of our four‑legged friends is a plus! (dog friendly office)
Compensation

  • Full medical starting 30 days after the start of position

    • All PTO, including paid sick leave, is encouraged to be used as desired and any unused time is received as additional paid time at the end of each year
  • Profit Sharing – 10% to 20% of salary profit share is contributed by McClellan | Tellone towards a personal retirement SEP‑IRA account, tied to the firm’s quarterly and annual financial performance. Historically, contributions have averaged 15%+.
