The Providence Architecture and Building Company, a boutique design-build division of The Providence Group, is seeking an Architectural Designer with 5+ years of experience who is highly proficient in Revit and experienced in multifamily design.

This role focuses on modeling, unit layout, and space planning, with opportunities to lead smaller residential projects from concept through construction administration in a collaborative Providence/Boston market.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional architectural experience in multifamily or related sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows.
  • Experience with design-build delivery and space planning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine multifamily unit layouts with a focus on efficiency and marketability.
  • Build and manage detailed 3D Revit models with realistic assemblies.
  • Iterate layout revisions as project constraints evolve and financial models inform decisions.
  • Produce parking layouts and site studies.
  • Review and redline plan sets from external AoR architects to ensure standards.
  • Coordinate with in-house construction on pre-construction items like cost assessments and MEP strategies.
  • Lead small residential projects from design through construction administration.

About Us

The Providence Architecture and Building Company is a boutique design-build division of the Providence Group, a fast-growing, design-centered real estate development team committed to placemaking and creating housing at all price points. We specialize in multifamily design and construction, operating in a fully integrated design-build structure. Unit layout, building efficiency, and constructability are central to our work. Design decisions are driven by real-world constraints, including project feasibility and market performance.

Firm leadership is deeply involved in the design process. Projects are highly iterative. Layouts are refined repeatedly until they are just right — from unit efficiency to parking yield to buildability. The right candidate will view this as an opportunity to sharpen their skills in a rigorous and collaborative environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Architectural Designer whom is on a clear path to licensure with 5+ years of experience who is highly proficient in Revit and experienced in multifamily design.

This role is heavily focused on modeling, unit layout, and space planning, with opportunities to lead smaller residential projects from concept through construction administration.

You will work closely with firm leadership and contribute meaningfully to projects from early feasibility through construction. We also frequently partner with larger design firms that serve as the AoR on our projects so you'll have the opportunity to also network, coordinate with, and learn from a wide spectrum of architects in the Providence/ Boston market as well.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine multifamily unit layouts with a focus on efficiency, marketability
  • Build and manage detailed 3D Revit models using real construction assemblies within model for realistic takeoffs and preliminary pricing purposes
  • Iterate quickly on layout revisions as project constraints evolve and financial models inform new decisions
  • Produce parking layouts and site studies
  • Review and redline plan sets from 3rd party external AoR architects to ensure all plans comport to our Company's standards and preferences.
  • Coordinate closely with in-house construction team on pre-construction items such as preliminary cost assessments, constructability reviews, MEP strategies, and project delivery strategies
  • Lead small residential projects in full (e.g., single family &, small multifamily) from design through construction administration
Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of professional architectural experience
  • Strong multifamily project experience
  • Upscale single family experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit
  • Portfolio of residential spaces, both single family and multifamily designs
  • Bachelor or Master of Architecture from NAAB accredited program
  • Licensure to practice architecture required

Compensation & BenefitsSalary Range: $80,000-$120,000 (commensurate with experience)
