Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Security Architect to join our Product Security team. You will work with development to embed security into design and development across Akamai systems, including AI-enabled workflows, to keep our platform secure at scale.

You will guide secure design, perform design reviews, and partner with cross‑functional teams to remediate issues while staying ahead of evolving threats in a large, global environment.

Qualifications

• Security architecture in a large global environment.
• Awareness of the latest security technologies, attack techniques, and vulnerabilities.
• Ability to remediate vulnerabilities and propose custom solutions.
• Breadth of security knowledge across cloud security, network security, cryptography, etc.
• Experience with threat modeling frameworks such as STAMP, STRIDE, etc.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with a worldwide team and explain complex security terms to non-technical audiences.

Akamai's Information Security team is responsible for safeguarding Akamai, its customers, and the Internet worldwide. We are looking for a Security Architect to join our Product Security team. You will have the opportunity to make the Internet a safer place, powered by the scale of Akamai's platform and influence.

Shape Internet Security

In this role, you will enhance the security of Akamai's products by working closely with development teams to integrate security into the design and development of Akamai systems. AI is changing how we, and our customers, work, and we're excited about it. You'll have room to work with new AI tools, sharpen your skill set, and help drive our strategy.

• Performing security-focused design reviews of applications, systems and networks across a wide range of products, including security, CDN and cloud computing.
• Partnering with development and infrastructure teams across the organization to assist with remediation of identified issues.
• Working collaboratively with product development teams on secure design and development choices.
• Providing guidance and answering questions about security practices.
• Serving as a subject matter expert during incidents and remediation projects.
• Identifying the appropriate tools and processes for ensuring that products are meeting security and compliance requirements.
• Integrating responsible use of AI into your workflow and ensuring that the company's use both internally and its products, are secured.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have experience in security architecture in a large, global environment (identifying architectural security weaknesses at the application, OS, and network level)
• Be current with the latest security technologies, attack techniques, and vulnerabilities.
• Know how to remediate common vulnerabilities and be able to propose custom solutions based on application architecture and implementation.
• Demonstrate breadth of security knowledge across specialties such as cloud security, network security, cryptography, etc.
• Have experience with threat modeling or hazard-analysis frameworks such as STAMP, STRIDE, etc.
• Be able to communicate and collaborate well with a worldwide team, including being able to describe complex security terms to non-technical audiences.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $146,400 - $263,600/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
