Job description

PIVOT Architecture seeks a self‑motivated architect with 5-12 years of experience. We are searching for a candidate with a passion for good design, a spirit of collaboration, and an eagerness to learn and contribute to a lively work environment. The ideal candidate is looking for a career growth position where their skills and talents are recognized and harnessed to elevate our design work, firm culture and future of practice. If you’ve been thinking about a change of scenery in your professional landscape and are looking for new challenges, let’s get together for a discussion.

We’re looking for an architect who does their best work when a project asks something of them technically — someone who finds real satisfaction in solving hard problems and who never loses sight of how a space will actually feel to the people using it. This role is about leading our collaborative design process well: guiding a project team, keeping everyone focused on what best serves the client, from early concept through the final walkthrough.

How you show up with clients matters as much as what you know. We’re looking for someone who brings a genuine spirit of hospitality to client relationships — attentive, generous with their time, and easy to trust — and who holds design quality and technical execution to an equally high standard.

We’re invested in where this role goes over time. If you take initiative and want increasing responsibility — more project leadership, more mentorship, more say in how we work — there’s genuine room for that here.

What You’ll Do
Design & Documentation
  • Guide projects through each phase of design and documentation — from early programming and schematic design through design development, construction documents, and construction administration
  • Keep Revit models and drawing sets accurate and well-coordinated
  • Work through architectural details and systems with an eye toward long‑term performance and how they’ll actually be built
Codes & Technical Coordination
  • Apply a solid working knowledge of building codes, ADA and accessibility standards, and local entitlement requirements to everyday project decisions
  • Manage the permitting and agency review process with local jurisdictions
  • Coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP during design
  • Lead project teams in a way that brings out the strongest thinking from everyone involved, including yourself and our clients
  • Keep consultants — structural, MEP, civil, and others — coordinated and pulling in the same direction to achieve project goals
  • Work alongside Principals and Project Managers to track scope, schedule, and budget
  • Help run QA/QC reviews that keep our deliverables sharp
  • Manage construction administration tasks — RFIs, submittal review, site visits — as projects move toward completion
Clients & Culture
  • Build lasting relationships with clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Mentor less‑experienced staff and help create a culture where people are actively learning from one another
  • Contribute to how PIVOT thinks about design and technical practice as a firm
What We’re Looking For
  • You’re skilled at organizing people and work around a shared vision
  • You communicate clearly and adjust naturally to different communication styles
  • You’re proficient at executing all phases of work — modeling and annotating in Revit — consistent with project goals and objectives, and comfortable working within shared BIM models as part of a team
  • You can research building materials and product selections, and coordinate specifications for a project
  • You’re comfortable in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) for presentations and graphic communication, and know your way around at least one visualization tool (Enscape, Lumion, SketchUp, or similar)
  • You move easily between fine technical detail and big‑picture design thinking, depending on what a project needs
  • You hold a professional degree from an accredited architecture program; licensure is preferred, or you’re actively working toward it
