Job summary

Ghafari Associates is seeking a seasoned Architect to direct design development and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams on substantial projects. You will lead technical drawings, specifications, and in-house construction administration while mentoring junior staff.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Architecture or Architectural Engineering, NCARB AXP, and strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
  • NCARB AXP completion required.
  • Licensing exams in progress preferred.
  • LEED Certification preferred.
  • WELL Building Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and run moderate to large, complex projects.
  • Establish factual parameters of the design work (codes, site restrictions, budget, schedule).
  • Formulate project work plans and lead execution of tasks.
  • Assume primary responsibility for daily activities and quality of Construction Documents.
  • Mentor less experienced staff throughout the project.
  • Produce schematic design, design development and construction documents.
  • Be proficient in architectural graphic standards and drawings organization.
  • Assist PM with schedule, budget, and staffing changes.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines and consultants.
  • Ensure quality control procedures are enforced across documents.
  • Prepare addenda and bulletins related to architectural work.
  • Perform in-house construction administration duties (RFI responses, shop drawings).
  • Maintain and improve office standards and production tools.
  • Familiar with Revit project setup and workset management.

Job description

General Summary

The Architect, with some supervision from the Manager of Architecture, directs the development of the design work; leads in the production of technical drawings and specifications; coordinates the related work of the other disciplines; and assumes in-house construction administration duties on projects of moderate to large size and complexity.

Essential Job Functions
  • Has the ability to coordinate and run moderate to large, complex projects.
  • Establish the factual parameters of the design work (e.g., code, site restrictions, budget and schedule restraints); identify building systems options and related performance and cost criteria; and assist in the presentation of design documents.
  • Formulate the project work plan and mini-sheet sets based on an approved scope of work. Lead the execution of the various tasks identified therein.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the daily activities of the architectural project team, progress of the work and technical quality of the Construction Documents (drawings and specifications).
  • Provide mentorship and embrace opportunities for learning with less experienced staff throughout the course of the project.
  • Accurately produce schematic design, design development and construction documents.
  • Proficient at architectural graphic standards and construction drawing set organization and development.
  • Assist the Project Manager in adhering to the project schedule and budget. Identify changes to the scope of the work and related repercussions on project schedule and budget. Provide resource/budget forecasting upon request.
  • Advise the Manager of Architecture (VP or Director) of changes in the staffing requirements for projects.
  • Initiate and orchestrate the work of the entire project team (the various engineering and interiors disciplines, and other consultants), and facilitate the timely exchange of information between all project team members.
  • Assume responsibility for the coordination of all disciplines, documents, and for insuring that quality control procedures are enforced.
  • Prepare written portion of addenda and bulletins relating to architectural work.
  • Perform all in-house construction administration duties: respond to RFIs, review and approve shop drawings, issue bulletins, etc.; provide field representation services (at the request of the Project Manager or when deemed critical).
  • Possess and demonstrate thorough knowledge of company standards. Help maintain and improve office architectural standards, details and production tools.
  • Familiar with Revit model creation in accordance with company standards.
  • Familiar with Revit project set-up and workset/model management in accordance with company standards.
  • Familiar with laser scanning and point clouds.
  • Possess and demonstrate the ability/willingness to accept constructive feedback and mentorship from colleagues to enhance professional development.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Employment Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
  • NCARB AXP completion required.
  • Licensing exams in progress preferred.
  • LEED Certification preferred.
  • WELL Building Certification preferred.
Experience
  • 10+ years related architecture experience.
Skills/Competencies
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams. Familiar with BIM360.
  • Familiar with point cloud software (e.g. Autodesk Recap).
  • Good written and verbal communication.
