Job summary

YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley seeks an Archery Instructor/Open Shoot Attendant to support youth programs and maintain a safe archery range. This part-time, non-exempt role involves welcoming participants, delivering beginner-to-intermediate archery instruction, and promoting character-building values.

You will collaborate with the Youth & Family team, ensure equipment is well-maintained, and participate in demonstrations, events, and staff trainings as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficient in communicating with youth and guardians.
• Ability to foster a safe and positive archery learning environment.
• Capable of adapting teaching style to different ages and skill levels.
• Comfortable inspecting and maintaining archery gear.

Responsibilities

• Teach archery skills including safety, handling, and form.
• Lead age-appropriate lessons, activities, and skill-building games.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming archery range per YMCA policies.
• Inspect bows, arrows, targets, and equipment regularly.
• Enforce range rules and safe practices for all participants.
• Adapt instruction for various ages and abilities.
• Provide constructive feedback to participants on progress.
• Communicate participant progress with parents and program leadership.
• Attend required staff meetings and trainings; support events and camps.
