Job summary

Johnstown Scheels is seeking a Bow Technician to provide expert fitting, repair, and maintenance of bows and archery equipment. This role combines technical skills with customer focus to represent Scheels as friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous to customers and associates.

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or GED (or 3 months related experience). Responsibilities include setting up bows, tuning, repairing, stringing, and advising on maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carefully follow customer instructions while maintaining safety requirements.
• Set up bows with accessories, tune, repair, and string bows.
• Communicate repair processes and maintenance recommendations to customers.
• Maintain an orderly workspace and assist with product knowledge and inventory.
• Attend training meetings and be knowledgeable about location, price, and use of merchandise.
• Assist with customer trade-ins.

Responsibilities:

• Carefully follow instructions per the specific requests of the customer, while maintaining safety requirements
• Service bows include:
• Setting up bows with accessories
• Tuning Bows
• Repair of bows
• Stringing bows
• Communicate the process of repair and suggestions for ongoing maintenance
• Maintain an orderly and immaculate appearance of personal workspace, archery bench, back stock space, and surrounding areas
• Attend sales and product knowledge training meetings when required
• Be knowledgeable to answer questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise
• Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise
• Contact vendors to order and follow up on repair part orders
• Assist with customer trade-ins

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 3 months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

*Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must have a bow draw-weight of 70lbs.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to also exert up to 50 - 80 lbs of pulling force regularly.

Schedule and Compensation:

• Hours: Average of 15 -20 hours per week.
• The Shift: Evening shifts from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM
• Weekends: Minimum of every other weekend (Saturdays between 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Sundays 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
• Pay: The posted compensation is a base hourly rate of $18.00/HR.
