Job summary

AZAD Technology Partners seeks an Archaeologist and Cultural Resource Specialist to support the Historic Preservation program at the facility. You will coordinate with US Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, tribes, SHPOs and land managers to address NHPA Section 106 compliance and to plan at least 16 meetings annually.

You will inventory and evaluate prehistoric and historic resources while balancing multiple projects.

Qualifications

Job description

Join AZAD Technology Partners as an Archaeologist and function as a Cultural Resource Specialist, providing professional support and assistance to the Historic Preservation organization at the facility. This assignment will support the facility's Federal Columbia River Power System Cultural Resource Program, which requires substantial coordination between the facility and partner agencies (the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation) to address cultural resources compliance pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, including attendance at and coordination of at least 16 meetings per year between , US Army Corps of Engineers, Reclamation, tribes, state historic preservation offices, and land managing agencies. The primary purpose of this assignment is to provide professional knowledge in the inventory, evaluation, protection and management of prehistoric and historic resources. This assignment will require the ability to balance and prioritize multiple assigned projects and interact with a wide variety of the facility internal personnel and management, as well as federal, state, and tribal officials and other interested parties.

This is a 2 year plus consultant position with high probability of long term and ongoing continued employment. This position is hybrid based in Portland, Oregon with onsite 2 days per week. The hourly pay rate for this position (which includes a health and welfare fringe benefit of $5.09) is between $35.31 and $43.59 depending on related qualifications and experience, as well as composition of selected compensation package.

The ideal candidate must possess the minimum qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or directly-related field is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science in Archaeology, Anthropology or directly-related field is required.
  • With an applicable Bachelor's or Master's degree, 5 years' professional work experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological research, administration or management is required.
  • 6 months of supervised field and analytic experience in BPA's service territory (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, Nevada, Wyoming).
  • Working knowledge of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA); demonstrated experience with and/or knowledge of Section 106 of the NHPA.
  • Extensive experience in conducting archaeological field inventories and producing written technical reports.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License or RealID is required.
Preferred Skills:
  • Archaeological experience within the Columbia River and Snake River Basin.
  • Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
  • Understanding of GIS, including a working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, and GPS technology.
  • Knowledge of reservoir impacts to historic properties, electrical transmission systems, and fish and wildlife mitigation programs.
