Job summary

Terracon in Fort Worth, TX seeks an Archaeology Field Technician to support surveys, testing, and excavations with thorough documentation. You’ll follow safety rules, assist with artifact collection, and help record stratigraphy under supervision, contributing to quality controls on all projects.

You will use GPS and MS Office tools, maintain equipment, and communicate findings to the Crew Chief. A Bachelor's degree in archaeology/anthropology and field school completion are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
  • Completion of an archaeological field school from an accredited institution or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of artifact identification, soils, and stratigraphy.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Able to use Global Positioning Systems
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Responsible for assisting with archaeological fieldwork, such as survey, excavation, artifact collection and basic documentation.
  • Conduct archaeological surveys or excavations using common archaeological tools and methods under the supervision of a Crew Chief or higher.
  • Identify artifacts and basic stratigraphy, recording information on standardized forms.
  • Assist more senior staff with other tasks as needed.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Communicate basic information to Crew Chief or Archaeologist.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
