Qualifications

Overview

Job Description: Overview: The Archaeological Technician is responsible for conducting field and laboratory tasks in support of archaeological investigations and regulatory compliance. Working under the supervision of a Project Archaeologist, this role assists in survey, excavation, documentation, and artifact processing activities while helping ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct archaeological field surveys, including shovel testing and site documentation, following established procedures and protocols.
  • Collect and record GPS data for field observations and site locations.
  • Clean, label, catalog, and curate artifacts in accordance with lab standards and guidelines.
  • Assist with the maintenance, inventory, and organization of field and lab equipment.
  • Support preparation of documentation, reports, and deliverables for cultural resource management compliance.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in all project tasks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a university-based archaeological field school.
  • Minimum of 3-6 months of archaeological field and/or lab experience preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in diverse terrain and weather conditions on a regular basis.
  • Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, dig with hand tools, and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40-50 pounds, including field equipment, soil samples, or artifact containers.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for field assignments as needed.
