System One seeks an Archaeological Field Technician to support field, lab, or GIS tasks in Fort Stockton, TX on a contract basis. The role involves excavations, documentation, artifact identification, and mapping under the supervision of the Senior Archaeologist.

The ideal candidate has at least three months of field experience, familiarity with Phase I-III work, and a Bachelor's degree in Archaeology or related field. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel are required.

  • Familiarity with Phase I, II, and/or III work
  • Minimum of three months of field experience (survey, testing, and data recovery)
  • Experience identifying and recording prehistoric resources
  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, or a closely related field
  • Willingness to travel and work varied hours

Responsibilities

  • Perform archaeological field work, lab work, or GIS work under supervision.
  • Excavations of shovel test pits, excavation units, and block excavations.
  • Site documentation, feature and artifact identification and analyses; mapping.
  • Conduct archaeological surveys and testing; physical task execution in adverse conditions.
