Job summary

Lancaster County Government seeks a GIS Technician to map and maintain parcel data in the County Assessor’s GIS. You will translate deeds and plats into precise digital representations and ensure data accuracy for multiple departments and the public.

You will update AssessPro databases, produce maps, and support historical research on property records. Strong communication is essential to explain findings clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with 1–2 years in drafting/mapping.
• Experience interpreting deeds and translating to GIS data.
• Ability to maintain accurate parcel data within a County GIS.

Responsibilities

• Update GIS mapping data daily to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain and update parcel data in AssessPro.
• Identify and correct errors in GIS and AssessPro systems.
• Update maps for new subdivisions, parcels, and property changes.
• Review deeds in Registry to correctly plat properties.
• Produce printed maps for the office and the public.
• Provide technical assistance to the GIS director and staff.
• Label deeds with tax map numbers in mapping work.
• Attend meetings/workshops to learn software advances.
• Maintain professional relationships with county staff and the public.
• Maintain subdivision records including acreage and road data.
• Update Assessor’s office forms and data entry workflows.
• Assist with general office duties and customer inquiries.
