What you’ll do as a Trimmer Trainee at Lewis:
- Participate in an innovative climbing skills training program
- Work in a team environment as part of a tight-knit crew
- Perform line clearing and tree trimming duties for utility customers, including pruning and removing trees and limbs, and clearing debris from wires and roofs
- Climb trees for manual trimming and removals near power lines
- Prepare, operate, and maintain tools and equipment such as hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts
- Remove limbs and brush, and dispose of debris
- Apply spray chemicals to preserve vegetation
- Enforce safety practices to safeguard employees and the public
What you’ll need:
- At least six months of experience as a ground crew member or similar, working around utility wires
- Ability to perform physical labor, lifting at least 50 lbs
- Capability to operate two-handed equipment and endure extreme climate conditions
- Willingness to obtain necessary training and certifications, including tree identification and licensing
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications
- Pass pre-employment drug and skills tests
- Valid Driver’s License
