Job summary

Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission seeks an Arborist (Natural Resource Specialist 3 In-Training) to join the Northwest region in Burlington, WA. You will lead high-risk tree care, pruning, and forestry activities, coordinating with program managers and staff to protect park resources and public safety.

The role requires extensive outdoor field work, climbing and rigging, and a commitment to safety. A CDL, ISA credentials, and the ability to travel across the state are essential.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience felling and pruning trees in arboriculture/tree care.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain WA CDL within 12 months.
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• ISA Certified Arborist and Tree Risk Assessor qualifications within timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and coordinate arboricultural field work across multiple parks.
• Maintain records on tree assessment, maintenance and pruning activities.
• Assess tree risk and perform tree care operations to reduce hazards.
• Operate and maintain arboriculture equipment and support on-site crews.
