Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an Arborist Trainee for Summer 2027 in Englewood, CO. This temporary, full-time internship offers hands-on field experience and climbs alongside a tree crew.

Starting Summer 2027 with a pay rate of $22.00 per hour, you will learn pruning, removal, and safety practices while advancing toward professional credentials in arboriculture.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid/CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide licenses if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and become part of a tree crew.
• Learn to perform tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully.
• Identify trees and apply pruning guidelines.
• Learn installation of cables, bracing, and lightning protection.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.

Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Internship with Davey Tree Expert Company

STARTING DATE: Flexible - We are currently seeking internship candidates for Summer 2027. This is a temporary, full-time position ideal for college students on summer break who want to gain hands-on experience in the field.

Rate of pay: $22.00 hourly

Job Duties

What You’ll Do

• Learn to climb trees! (Yes, we will pay you to do that.)
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills
• Learn to perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. Including but not limited to:
• Tree identification and industry pruning guidelines
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
