Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is offering a Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Internship in Denver, CO. This temporary, full-time position is ideal for college students on summer break seeking hands-on experience in tree care, plant health care, sales, and client services.

Starting date is flexible for Summer 2027. Rate of pay is $22.00 hourly. You will join a tree crew and progressively learn new skills in a supportive outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree orientation and safety training upon hire.
• Pesticide licenses/certificates preferred if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and operate as part of a tree crew.
• Learn pruning and removal techniques and use tools safely.
• Assist in installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in hazardous tree removal and equipment maintenance.

The Davey Tree Expert Companyis looking for exceptional students who are interested in expanding their field experience in theareas of Tree Care, Plant Health Care, Sales and Client Services.

STARTING DATE:

Flexible - We are currently seeking internship candidates for Summer 2027. This is a temporary, full-time position ideal for college students on summer break who want to gain hands‑on experience in the field.

Rate of pay: $22.00 hourly

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Learn to climb trees! (Yes, we will pay you to do that.)
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills
• Learn to perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. Including but not limited to:
• Tree identification and industry pruning guidelines
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
