Job summary

Lucas Tree Experts in Richmond, VT is seeking an Arborist Trainee/Climber for Transmission crews to learn felling, climbing, rigging, equipment operation and vegetation management. No prior tree experience is required; on‑the‑job training is provided including CDL instruction and licensing support.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work 45 hours per week.
• Minimum age 18 with a high‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Current, valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Physically capable of walking on uneven ground and carrying up to 75 lbs.
• Willingness to work at varying heights and operate equipment safely.
• Willingness to obtain a CDL A or B license if required.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications for career growth.
• Must successfully complete a post‑offer physical, drug screen, background check, and motor‑vehicle check.

Responsibilities

• Manual removal of vegetation from work areas
• Pesticide application
• Operation of forestry equipment (skidders, mowers, chainsaws, ATVs)
• Line clearance, pruning, and removals
• Physical labor in varied weather and terrain
