Job summary

The University of Oklahoma seeks a Landscape Supervisor to lead the tree crew, oversee tree care, safety, and maintenance across campus. You will drive pruning, removals, storm response, and sustainability initiatives to keep OU safe and visually appealing.

You will supervise landscape construction and maintenance, perform technical duties in propagation of plant materials, and coordinate fertilizer and pesticide applications with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in landscaping, arboriculture or grounds maintenance.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license; ISA Certified Arborist cert may be required depending on location or assignment.
• Oklahoma pesticide license preferred or required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, coordinates and directs landscape crews. Directs and performs tasks to accomplish Landscape Department goals.
• Coordinates the application of fertilizers and pesticides safely and properly.
• Directs the safe and proper use of equipment and materials, including heavy equipment.
• Assists in design and layout of floral and plant beds and selection of materials.
• Coordinates and directs work of other Facilities Management landscape crews.
• Prepares and approves employee time cards and routine reports.
• Selects and trains personnel, evaluates performance and makes salary recommendations.
• Processes requisitions to stock and maintain supply inventory.
• Ensures safety of all personnel and proper operation and security of gardening equipment.
• Performs various duties as needed to fulfill the position.

Position Introduction

Lead OU's tree crew, overseeing tree care, safety, and maintenance to protect campus and enhance landscape quality. Drive pruning, removals, storm response, and sustainability initiatives. Keep OU safe, beautiful, and thriving.

Supervises work in all aspects of landscape construction and maintenance. Performs technical and semi-technical duties required in the propagation of plant materials.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and directs the work of other Facilities Management crews working on landscape projects.

Qualifications

• Required Education and Experience: 3 years of experience in landscaping, arboriculture (tree care), or grounds maintenance.
• Required Certifications and Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. ISA Certified Arborist certification may be required depending on location or assignment.

Preferences

• Bachelor's of Science in Forestry or Horticulture or Related Field.
• Oklahoma pesticide license.
