Bartlett Tree Experts in Harrisburg, PA is hiring an Arborist Ground Person. You will join a professional tree-care crew to gain hands-on experience in pruning, rigging, removal, and equipment operation while learning safety and arboriculture basics.

This entry-level role offers on-the-job training, advancement opportunities, and access to industry credentials through Bartlett's Research Laboratories. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are valued.

Qualifications

• Interest in nature and outdoors throughout the year.
• Willingness to learn and participate in a multi-disciplinary crew.
• No prior arboriculture required, but preferred.
• Valid driver's license required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn on-the-job arboriculture tasks including pruning, rigging, cabling, and removal.
• Safely operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts under supervision.
• Follow work zone safety rules and Bartlett safety policies.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on ground and aloft.

Responsibilities

As an Arborist Ground Person, you will play an important role in:

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:
  • Pruning trees
  • Rigging
  • Cabling and bracing
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
  • Implementing work zone safety procedures
  • Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
  • Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies

Qualifications

• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
• Interest in working outdoors year-round performing manual labor in all weather conditions
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required
• Valid driver's license
• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred but not required
