Bartlett Tree Experts invites you to join its team in Ashland, MA as an Arborist Ground Person. This entry-level role provides hands-on training in scientific tree and shrub care on commercial and residential properties, within a safety-first, professional setting.

Expect to learn pruning, rigging, cabling, removal of hazards, and equipment operation while supporting arborists on the ground and aloft. This position emphasizes safety, ongoing learning, and advancement opportunities, with a strong

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with on-the-job training.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Degree preferred but not required; serious interest in arboriculture.
• Willingness to work outdoors year-round in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Learn to prune trees, rigging, cabling and bracing.
• Remove hazardous trees when applicable.
• Maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Implement work zone safety procedures.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on ground and aloft.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
• Follow safety rules and company safety policies.

As an Arborist Ground Person, you will play an important role in

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including
  • Pruning trees
  • Rigging
  • Cabling and bracing
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
  • Implementing work zone safety procedures
  • Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
  • Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies
• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
• Interest in working outdoors year-round performing manual labor in all weather conditions
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required
• Valid driver's license
• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred but not required
