Job description

Working to solve our climate crisis is the most important mission of our time, and the most exciting problem to be working on. Our initial focus involves applying machine learning to satellite imagery to track forests and vegetation. We currently partner with over 40 leading utilities worldwide, including four of the top ten US utilities, to help reduce wildfire risk and enhance grid reliability to prevent power outages.

We’re seeking a USA-based mid-career arborist to work closely with our Lead Arborist on analyzing imagery to identify tree species and assess tree health.

What you’ll do

• Identify declining trees on satellite images
• Identify tree species on satellite images
• Perform quality control on team’s work, including correct identification of tree species, hazard trees, estimating tree height, vegetation encroachment, and overhangs

Your experience

• Experience as an arborist, ideally ISA Certified Arborist
• Proficiency with GIS tools like QGIS and ArcGIS
• Experience interpreting tree characteristics from satellite images
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills in a fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented with a willingness to seek and incorporate feedback
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Contract details

• 20 hours per week
• Initial contract for 12 weeks, with potential for extension
