Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts seeks an Arborist Climber Trainee to join our outdoor tree care crew in Lancaster, PA. This entry-level role emphasizes hands-on training, safety, and professional development as you learn pruning, rigging, climbing, and basic tree care on residential and commercial properties.

Work with seasoned arborists, operate equipment safely, and participate in a culture that values learning, advancement, and teamwork. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• On-the-job training to safely perform arboriculture tasks.
• Valid drivercuss license required or preferred.
• Interest in outdoors year-round and in all weather conditions.
• Degree in Arboriculture/Forestry/Horticulture/Turfgrass/Environmental Science/Plant Science/Outdoor Recreation/Agriculture or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tree climbing, pruning, rigging, and cabling work.
• Support removal of hazardous trees and tree identification.
• Operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts under supervision.
• Follow safety rules and company safety policies.
• Help with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.

  • Tree climbing
  • Pruning

  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
  • Implementing work zone safety procedures
  • Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft

• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies
• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
• Interest in working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license

• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required
• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or a related field is preferred but not required
