Job Description Summary

This position performs skilled consecutive, first-person interpretation. Work is performed and reviewed under direct supervision, following well-defined policies and procedures. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision-making. The incumbent refers most problems to a supervisor, especially non-routine issues. This description applies to the entire Interpreter classification, regardless of language(s) spoken, including but not limited to Arabic, Bengali, Brazilian Portuguese, Burmese, Cambodian, Cantonese, Farsi, French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Karen, Mandarin, Nepali, Polish, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

Essential Functions (Major Duties & Responsibilities)

1. Provides meaning-for-meaning interpreting.
2. Follows CyraCom's interpreter protocols as per training, policies, and procedures.
3. Adheres to all policies related to confidentiality and interpreter ethics.
4. Attends all required training sessions, including those conducted by the CyraCom Quality and Development Department.
5. Continuously enhances vocabulary and specialized knowledge for various client sectors such as medical, legal, and social services.
6. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with CyraCom Interpreter policies.
7. Utilizes standard office equipment like telephones, computers, copiers, and fax machines.
8. Uses MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Edge (or other internet browsers).
9. Demonstrates reliable attendance, follows directions, completes tasks on schedule, and communicates effectively in English and the target language.
10. Works independently or collaboratively, interacting appropriately with colleagues, supervisors, and clients.

Additional Information

Starting pay for this position is $16.50/hr.
