Position Overview

Part‑time/temporary adjunct faculty positions in Arabic and related languages at the San Diego Community College District. Positions are offered on a flexible schedule to serve a diverse adult student body and may include day, evening, weekend, or off‑campus classes. Candidates must reside within commuting distance to San Diego and be available to students outside of class times.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned lecture or lab classes according to the established curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of subject matter and adhere to professional standards of conduct and ethics.
• Maintain accurate student records and provide quality instruction that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
• Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member and teach all scheduled classes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Arabic *or* Bachelor’s degree in Arabic and a Master’s degree in another language or Linguistics (all degrees from regionally accredited institutions).
• Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, cultural, disability, gender identity, and sexual orientation backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications

• Foreign degree that is equivalent to the required qualifications, evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or ACEI.
• California Community College Instructor Credential in Arabic (valid for life).
